The Disability Torah Project was born out of deep reverence and gratitude for those who share their disabled Torah, and a desire for more.
Our mission is to grow the library of disability Torah by empowering and compensating disabled thinkers for their writings on the weekly Torah portion. We aim to engage all learners interested in exploring the weekly parasha through the lens of disability. This includes examining explicit disability themes in the text, using the Torah as a springboard to explore lived experiences of disability, and delving into everything in between and beyond.
Each week we publish a piece by a disabled writer on the weekly Torah portion, studied and explored through the perspective of disability.
While we strive to learn from as many perspectives as possible, we acknowledge that the nature of a writing-focused project does exclude some. We are actively brainstorming ways to expand our work and include a broader range of engagement with Torah. If you have ideas for involvement beyond contributing written pieces, we welcome connecting with you.
