The Disability Torah Project is always seeking writers! Below you will find relevant information about the writing process. We invite anyone interested in fill out our Writer Interest Form and we will be in touch with you soon.

  • All disabled thinkers are encouraged to reach out. We like to think of disability in broad terms, and look forward to learning from many different perspectives. No formal diagnosis, classification, or determination is needed; self-identification is welcome.

  • We will work with you to identify a Torah portion that you feel confident writing on

  • Individualized support and mentorship are provided

  • New and first-time writers we welcome

Expectations for writings:

  • Between 800-2500 words

  • Engages with Torah and disability in a way that feels meaningful to the writer

  • Range of style, from personal reflection and blog-style to more formal and academic

Deadlines and timelines are rolling. This is an active project that is currently moving through the current Torah cycle. Pieces are published the Monday of the week of the parsha, and we ask that finished pieces be submitted three weeks in advance.

Writers will receive a $54 honorarium for their contribution upon publication.

As we strive to learn from as many different perspectives as possible, we recognize that the nature of a writing project inherently leaves people out. We are actively ideating about how to expand our work to include more and different modes of engaging with Torah. If you have a proposal of how you'd like to be involved, outside of a written piece, we welcome your thoughts. You can reach us at disabilitytorah@gmail.com
